We’ve heard Dan Andrews’ announcement and are looking forward to being able to welcome more people back to our centre!
We’re currently working to understand all of the new operating requirements and implement the changes in our centre. As you will be aware, we have already extended the session times for swimming and the gym to 90mins from tomorrow (Monday, November 23) to accommodate having more people in the centre at a time.
Additional spaces for these sessions will be released later today, please visit the applicable page at the link below for more information and follow the instructions to make a booking.
Please note that as we anticipate more people entering the facility, wait times upon entry may increase. We ask that everyone be understanding of this in advance and continue to adhere to all social distancing requirements and COVIDSafe behaviours while queuing and upon entry of the facility.
For gym bookings, please go to Gym page.
For swimming bookings, please go to our Lap Swimming page.
EXTENDED SWIMMING AND GYM SESSION TIMES FROM MONDAY, 23 NOVEMBER
Subject to confirmation from the Victorian Government's expected announcement on Sunday 22 November, from Monday, 23 November all swimming and gym sessions will be extended to 90mins (75mins activity with a 15min changeover) in anticipation of the easing of restrictions by the Victorian Government on Sunday, November 22.
Should restrictions not be eased, current session lengths will continue and any previous bookings will be adjusted.
While we are confident that patron limits will increase on Sunday, this has not been formally confirmed by the Government so please note that the current capacity limits will apply for anyone booking for Monday and Tuesday sessions on the weekend. Additional spaces will be released once all requirements are confirmed.
Due to the change of session durations, the online booking categories for swimming and gym sessions will change slightly – please read the instructions on the Lap Swimming and Gym pages before booking to avoid confusion.
Please note that as we anticipate more people entering the facility, wait times upon entry may increase. We ask that everyone be understanding of this in advance and continue to adhere to all of the social distancing requirements and COVID Safe behaviours while queuing and upon entry of the facility.
As there are still restrictions on facility usage under the Government requirements, all existing member accounts will remain on suspension and membership fees will continue to not be charged. We kindly ask that everyone continues to use the facility on a pay per use basis until further notice.

Today’s announcement from Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has confirmed the long-awaited changes to bring Victoria out of lockdown.
While these changes are indeed exciting, we are currently working through the impacts for our site and service offerings, which may take some time. We are working as quickly as possible and will provide additional updates as soon as more information is available.
We are as excited as you are and can’t wait to see you again!
TENNIS TO RE-OPEN AT NORTHCOTE AQUATIC AND RECREATION CENTRE
The tennis courts at the Northcote Aquatic & Recreation Centre will reopen for public use from Thursday, October 22 in line with the easing of Victorian Government restrictions announced on Sunday, October 18.
Bookings are essential and spots are limited due to current restrictions. Visit our Tennis Courts page to see our terms and conditions as well book your court time.
We’ve heard Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews’ latest announcement regarding changes to the use of indoor and outdoor pools and tennis courts.
In line with changes regarding capacity limits for lap swimming in outdoor pools, from 7:00pm tonight, additional bookings will be made available via our online booking system.
Bookings have been in high demand since reopening, which we are incredibly grateful for. We are really excited that more people can now come for a swim, however, even with the increase we are still operating under limitations. If you do miss out on booking, please keep checking back each time new bookings are released and we hope you will be swimming as soon as possible.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
We are excited that Victoria is making great progress towards reopening and want to thank you for your ongoing support throughout this challenging time. Please continue checking our website for the latest information regarding service updates.
All staff have completed the Department of Health COVID-safe training, as well as additional training provided by YMCA Victoria to ensure they are equipped with the knowledge to keep you safe. We have also provided additional training for specific roles to ensure all programs operate safely with social distancing requirements in place.
To ensure we are following the government’s health guidelines, there will be a restricted number of people allowed within a space at any given time. So no one misses out, we have set up an online booking system where you can select a session time that suits you and pay immediately to secure your place.
Unfortunately our team is unable to amend or place bookings over the phone if we are already fully booked. We ask that you please only contact us regarding bookings if you are having technical difficulties, are unable to use the online system, or are seeking a priority booking for health care cardholders, older adults, people with a disability or people that are using the pool for rehabilitation purposes.
At this time, membership payments will not resume. You will be given notice prior to your direct debits recommencing.
Please ensure you arrive prepared for your activity. This includes bringing a towel, water bottle and warm clothes.
Wearing a face mask in centre
The current government restrictions require all Victorians to wear a fitted face mask that covers the nose and mouth when they leave their home. This means that face shields, bandanas, scarves, loose snoods, or loose neck gaiters on their own are no longer considered a sufficient face covering.
These restrictions also apply at our centre. All staff will be wearing a face mask in the centre, unless they are doing an activity that is exempt from the restrictions. For instance, our group fitness instructors do not need to wear a face mask when they are instructing a class (but they will be required to wear a mask at all other times!).
Visitors are also expected to wear a face mask when they visit the centre. Again there are exemptions for visitors who are doing physical activity where they are out of breath or puffing, such as:
- High intensity and functional circuits
- Running on a treadmill
- Cycle classes
- Cardio and dance classes
- Training and competition related to team sports (under 18 years).
Staff and visitors are also exempt from wearing a face mask when they are having their temperature scan or when they are consuming fluids or food. If you are unsure of when you must wear a mask, please ask one of our friendly staff who will be able to provide you with the correct guidance.
Temperature scanning on entry
Please make sure you arrive 5 minutes early to your session so you have enough time to sign in and get your temperature checked. All staff and visitors will be scanned upon entry and anyone who displays a temperature of 38°C will be politely asked to leave.
Signage and instructions
Once you are inside the centre, you will see signage and instructions on how staff and visitors can be COVID-safe. Hygiene signage and floor, seat and bench stickers will be displayed throughout the facility to help everyone with physical distancing requirements.
Social distancing in centre
A safe distance of 1.5 metres between people will be required throughout the centre and programs. All spaces within the centre have been measured and density quotient restrictions per space will be enforced. Staff and visitors will be counted as they enter and exit spaces, and some seats and equipment have been removed to ensure social distancing is possible.
Please remember that we must all play our part in helping stop the spread of COVID-19. If a visitor does not follow our COVID-safe practices, including social distancing requirements, they may politely be asked to leave the facility by a staff member.
Hygiene and cleaning
When you arrive at the facility, the first thing you will notice is hand sanitiser at all entry and exit points, with the expectation that everyone (staff and visitors) sanitise their hands before entering. Hand sanitiser will be available throughout the centre and in bathrooms.
The entire facility will be cleaned every 24 hours and high touch points, such as doors, toilets and gym equipment, will be cleaned regularly throughout the day. Staff will also be wiping down gym equipment regularly and antibacterial wipes will be available for visitors to use before and after using equipment.
Our 8-step plan for a confirmed case
Our staff have been trained to ensure that if there is a confirmed case at the centre, they have the tools and resources they need to close down safely. All visitors will have to sign in at reception when they attend their session, which allows us to contact trace those people who were at the centre. There will also be a contamination clean prior to reopening.
Please do not visit the centre if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms: fever, cough, tiredness, cold, sore throat, runny nose, shortness of breath or headache. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, please seek medical attention and be checked for COVID-19 at one of the testing stations across the state.
